The inaugural Ch. Ranjeet Singh Soccer Championship kicked off with great enthusiasm. The tournament began with a kickoff by Mr. Paul David, the principal of Ompee Global School. As the day progressed, the matches became increasingly intense and competitive.
One of the standout matches was between teams from Delhi and Gurgaon, which kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The semifinal featured a closely contested match between Kerala Football Club and Elite Football Club Gurgaon.
The final match took place between Elite Football Club Gurgaon and Sunderban Delhi. The match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, leading to a penalty shootout with each team taking three penalty kicks. The tension was palpable as it came down to the last penalty kick, with the Sunderban team having a chance to win or lose it all. In the end, the Elite team emerged victorious with a final score of 3-2 in the shootout.
The tournament saw a great turnout of parents cheering on the players, along with enthusiastic visitors. It was a highly successful football tournament, marking its first edition, and we eagerly anticipate the second edition.
The awards were presented by Mr. Yogender Hooda, the Ompee school director, and Mr. Paul David, the principal of Ompee Global School. Mr Santosh, the chief referee and Mr. Kuldeep, the match referee and the main coordinators, received praise for their excellent officiating and meticulous organisation of the tournament.
